Have you ever wanted to use a radio or TV programme but did not manage to record it? The service described here is designed to help you! Under the 1989 Copyright Act educational institutions in the UK are permitted to record off-air for use in teaching. This applies to almost all broadcast output* and the only requirement is that the institution holds a licence issued by the Educational Recording Agency (ERA). LEAs hold block licences on behalf of their schools and colleges, independent schools need to obtain their own.
*The only exception is in respect of material broadcast by the Open University who operate their own licensing scheme (01908 653231 www.open.ac.uk).
See the Catalogue for a listing [BA (radio) & BV (TV) prefixes] and How to Borrow for details of fees etc.
If we do not have the programme you want please contact the Video Studio at Richmond-upon-Thames College who may be able to help.
Go to the TV & Radio page at the Classical Resource Centre for details of the week's broadcasts.
