Another enjoyable evening even if numbers were down a little on last year (47 as opposed to 68)..
Sadly, there were no entries for Greek or for Senior Latin.
The four entrants for Intermediate Latin, all from the one school, acquitted themselves well with a lot of expressive reading.
Junior Latin saw 21 candidates tackling a Latin version of Androcles and the Lion, many of them with much confidence and managing to combine accuracy with the ability to distinguish different registers in the piece.
Only two teams (each of 8 readers) entered for the Minimus section, both from the same school. They clearly enjoyed themselves and made life difficult for the judges, one group being only marginally better than the other.
This year the Drama competition attracted just one entry in each of the Greek, Roman and the new Film Re-enactment sections. All performed with enthusiasm and had clearly put a lot of thought into their presentations.
We hope that more schools will take up the challenge next year and come along to an event which is always enjoyed by its participants and adjudicators.
