WHAT A WORD!

All these word come from the Latin corpus, "body":

corporeal

corporate

corps

corpus

corpse

corporal

corselet (from the old spelling of corpse - "corse"

corporation

corset

corpulent

corsage

corpuscle (corpusculus = "little body")

The most outlandish derivation from corpus is said to have originated in the first three words uttered by the priest at the consecration in the Latin mass – hoc est corpus. Some people could not understand this didn’t know Latin!) and it ended up in English as "hocus-pocus".
