It later became French and the other ‘Romance’ languages.

Latin at Ossett School

Those in the Gifted & Talented group in Years 8 amd 9 will receive an invitation to start Latin using electronic learning methods ("e-learning").

If you leave it till later - even after you have left school - you could become an Independent Learner with the Cambridge Online Latin Project (COLP).

Either way you will study the Cambridge Latin Course in which you will learn to

read and understand Latin
appreciate the writings of Roman authors
understand Roman civilisation (and thus your own culture which derives from it)
understand better how language works and improve your knowledge of English words and spelling
